The beginning of September this year is also reserved  for a festival under the stars in the Old city. Star Film Fest is dedicated to the young artists from the age of 18 to 35, and their program was presented to the media  representatives today.  On the presentation of the program participated: general sponsor of Star Film Fest is INA d.d., director of Sisak Rafinery – Damir Butković, general sponsor City of Sisak – head of the administrative board for education, culture, sport, defenders and civil society Goran Grgurač,  and the partner of the project Tourist board of the city of Sisak – director Miljana Borojević The organizator of the Star Film Fest Matija Holjevac considers that the goal of the festival is to be the first step for young artists to show their movies so that they could go on and participate at other festivals. We fulfilled that goal because the movie Govorna pošta ( Voice mail) won at the last years SFF and this year was showed at the festival in Pula. On the third in a row Star Film Fest, which is held from the 1st to the 3rd of September, 380 movies applied and only the best 40 movies will be shown during the festival on the location  of the Sisak Old city and Theatre 21.

The opening ceremony will take place at the picturesque Old Town fortress to which the visitors will be taken by boat (leaving at 19.00 below pizzeria Gema on Sisak’s promenade). Among many exciting things the organizers have prepared, you will also get to see Dalibor Matanić’s award-winning film Zvizdan, that had its premiere at the last year’s Cannes film festival.

Big news for this year’s festival are the matinees for our youngest film-lovers. Accompanied by our Zvjezdica and Mickey Mouse, the kids will get to see the most popular Croatian films for kids, every morning at Kazalište 21. We also prepared a small, but interesting lecture by Duško Popović on children’s film-making in the function of public health.

For those interested, we organized a video workshop led by our good old Teo Vukšan, and an aerial filming workshop by Tomislav Šebalj, the most exciting news of this year’s SFF. You can secure your place by filling out a submission form on our web-page, before 22 August.

After the film screenings on the second and third day of the festival, the visitors can enjoy the concerts by Begállta (Irish-music performers) and Rolin Humes, the fantastic blues band, and on Saturday, you will get to see Luky & Enigmatiko.

All workshops, film screenings and lectures are free for the visitors. It is only important to apply for workshops on time.

This year’s jury, whose role is to decide on the best films at the festival, is comprised of Croatian film experts – Danijel Rafaelić (film historian), Silvestar Kolbas (cinematographer, photographer and director), Tara Rosandić (theatre, film and TV actress), Luka Rukavina (dramaturge) and Damir Čučić (director, screenwriter, producer and film editor).

On the final night, we will award the best films in each category and the winners of the photo contest „The real Sisak“.

We are expecting you!
