A star crew called Star Film Fest finally landed at their destination and raised stary film dust at the opening.
The overture to the first day of this year’s Star Film Fest was marked, for the ears, by Lordan Badanjak’s film music and for the eyes, the exhibition Fights on the Big Screen, organized in cooperation with the Sisak City Museum. The exhibition introduced us to a collection of museum film posters that themed kung-fu films, and they announced film screenings in cinemas.
“In this difficult time of coronavirus and earthquakes, we managed to gather and organize the eighth Star Film Fest,” said the festival director, Matija Holjevac, who, along with selectors Anja Kavić and Martina Mladenović, officially opened this year’s edition of the festival.The opening was also marked by the charming hosts Saša Tadić and Tomo Rajić.
This year’s festival is under the auspices of President Zoran Milanovic and enjoys the traditional support of the City of Sisak, the INA refinery, the Sisak Creative Industry Center, as well as the Croatian Audiovisual Center and the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The official opening was followed by screenings of 11 films. The screenings were opened by the documentary Blue Border by Ivan Milosavljević, followed by the animated films One Left by Sebastian Doringer, Journey with Mr. Mr. Céline Brengou, Kula by Sunčana Brkulj and The Ducks by Angela Aguirre. This was followed with a documentary by Isaac Rodriguez (Un) known neighbors, feature films Over Coffee by Yane Sariadi, Spin Cycle by Ignacio Roda, The Moon, Tomasico And My Grandmother by Angela Caparrosa. The screening of the experimental film Siego De Mieses by Carles Abad Tent was also shown at the screening and the very first competitive screening was closed by the feature film The Last Birthday by Esteban Díaz Baen.
This year’s expert jury consists of actors Karlo Maloča and Lucia Stefania Glavich Mandarić which you could have seen on your small screens in the show Crno-bijeli svijet, actress Tena Pataky, director Ena Mitrovski and award-winning film critic Iva Rosandić. In addition to the already traditional awards, this year’s Star Film Fest also awards a special Stardust money prize as an incentive for the further creation of young authors.
Although Star Film Fest returned to its full glory after last year’s online edition, for all who are not able to come to Star Film Fest, online streaming of screenings and program content was organized through the official web and Facebook pages of SFF.
The evening of good films ended with good music and the sounds of the Zagreb four-member band Lika Colorado (Pavle Gulić – drums, Ana Jelić – bass, Filip Riđički – vocals, Vanja Senčar – guitar), a band that just wants to create and play, socialize with people on stage, from stage, under stage!
The program continues the next day in a working atmosphere – the Film Dramaturgy Workshop begins – from idea to idea for film by Patrik Gregurec and the first part of Iva Rosandić’s film critique workshop at the Sisak Creative Industry Center, and all organizers invite all film lovers to join in this a three-day film saga and to raise star film dust with Star Film Fest.
