The six films in the experimental category of this year’s SFF question the future, emotions, social injustices and processes of self-discovery.

The first of them on the schedule is “Jeste li osjetili?” (dir. Tena Petrović) which deals with the observation and interpretation of one’s own psychological processes triggered by the earthquake, while “Voyage” (dir. Tamara Bućan) tells the story of a woman who, with the aim of meeting a friend, travels to Japan. When her friend doesn’t arrive, the woman stumbles upon a path that leads to quiet solitude and self-discovery. You have the opportunity to watch both films as part of the block of the first competitive screening, at the very opening of the festival (August 31st, 2023 at 8:30 p.m.) on the Vladimir Nazors Promenade.

As part of the fourth block of screenings (September 1st, 2023 at 5:30 p.m., Sisak City Museum), “Povratak kući” (dir. Nikola Papić) and the Turkish “I You He/She We You They” (dir. Sevin Yaman) are shown. “Povratak kući” shows the complete isolation of the artist who questions where all the plans for the future he once had disappeared, while “I You He/She We You They” problematizes the draft law on amnesty for marital sexual abuse in Turkey, which has led to large reactions among women. Women who were and will be married to [their] perpetrators did not hesitate to give their voice and resisted the bill that was forgotten after a strong public outcry. “I You He/She We You They” tells the story of a young girl who is forced to marry a rapist, the struggles between power, law, society and family.

The fifth block of screenings (September 1,st 2023 at 8:30 p.m.) on the Vladimir Nazors Promenade features the film “Disco Europa” (dir. Marko Plejić), which was produced by Kino Klub Split, and shows a deeper look at the wild parties on the central Split beach that are began to take place every evening after the clubs closed.

And the last film in the experimental block – “102” (dir. Ana Glamuzina) shows the well-known moment of missing the bus, warmth caused by anxiety, untied shoes and psychological distress. The film is scheduled for the sixth competition block (September 2nd, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.) in the Sisak City Museum.
