This year’s competition program is undoubtedly dominated by animated films. It seems that the cartoon world gives us more free rein than harsh reality, and the topics covered by this year’s films range from simple to complex ones, which only shows the breadth of possibilities of animated films.

In the third block of competitive screenings (September 1st, 2023) at 4:15 p.m. in the Sisak City Museum, you will have the opportunity to watch 2 animated films: the French “On my bicycle” (dir. Océane Lavergne, Benjamin Langagne, Lucas Durot, Pierre Cilluffo, Marine Beuvain , Kerrian Detay) which through detailed animation brings the story of a man and his bicycle and the Croatian “Burek vs. sirnica” (dir. Sandro Toth), which raises the question of all issues in the Balkans.

The Japanese “The Ant Tower” (dir. Lina Machida), the Canadian “To the Beyond” (dir. Angie He) and the Indian “That Doesn’t Fit” (dir. Ackshaj Anand) are shown in the fourth block of competitive screenings (September 1st, 2023 at 17:30) in the Sisak City Museum . “To the Beyond” is a story about separated life paths, but also accepting changes with love and believing that their paths will meet again one day, while “That Doesn’t Fit” in the form of a 2D animated slapstick anthology shows different scenarios in which people fit too much in with a handful of satire and social commentary.

Pixie song” (dir. Simone M. Marinksy), an animated music video about Pixie the cat who likes to go around the neighborhood looking for food, is shown in the fifth block of competitive screenings (September 1st, 2023 at 8:30 p.m.) on Vladimir Nazor’s Promenade, while the story about a cat trying to fall asleep on the street – “Who Ate the Bird” (dir. Sasha Tse) can be seen in the sixth block of competitive screenings (September 2nd, 2023at 11:00 a.m.) in the Sisak City Museum.
