We talked with Goran Dević, a movie director from Sisak and this year’s jury member at Star Film Festival.
Star Film Fest is intended primarily for young filmmakers who are new with creating movies. What was your main motivation to start dealing with movies?
I do not really remember. I doubt it was a specific motive, you just love movies and you try to produce your own.
You are a member of this year’s jury of the Star Film Festival, how did you find this role?
I was invited.
Which criteria will you take when evaluating movies?
I listen to my own emotional reaction to what someone else has created. The stronger impact the movie does the more I like it.
There have been over 500 films from 50 countries around the world, what do you think about this great response to this young film festival?
People don’t have anywhere to show their films, and state funds who give them sources want international “visibility” for their films.
Are there differences in films with regard to the countries they come from? Would you give anybody some advantage?
No.
What would you say to the young movies that are filming in the movie world?
Not to listen to their older colleagues. Trust yourself.
