As part of this year’s competition program, Star Film Fest presents 32 short films.
Martina Mladenović, Anja Kavić and Iva Rosandić, the selection team of Star Film Fest, have chosen the films for the competition program of the upcoming twelfth edition of SFF from a total of 1.281 submitted short films from around the world. The festival will be held from August 21st to 23rd in the city of Sisak.
This year’s competition program includes 10 animated films, 8 documentaries, 8 experimental, and 6 fiction short films, of which 24 are student films. Additionally, this year’s competition program will feature six Croatian premieres: the animated film “Stardust and Camp” by Australian director Jayden Van Win, experimental films “Sister” by Filandra Zulfikar from neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, “Doctor Comes in on Thursdays” by Serbian director Jovana Anđelković, “Layers: Film” by Brazilian director Vitorio Scaevola, the Tajik “Voices of the Mountains” created by the DRF Community and the Argentine film “Terpeniev” by Manuel Del Médic.
The best films from the competition program, as judged by the main jury, the student jury, and the audience, will have the opportunity to win one of this year’s nine Star Film Fest awards: Best Industrial Film Award, Best Fiction Film Award, Best Documentary Film Award, Best Experimental Film Award, Best Animated Film Award, Special Star Award – for Best Film Selected by the Curators, Stardust Award – for Best Audience Film, Golden Star Award for Best Student Film includes a cash prize and is awarded by the “Small Jury” called the Stardusters, composed of high school students from the cities of Sisak and Petrinja. This year also brings a special award: the Supernova Star for the best film that innovatively portrays the concept of movement (in line with the festival’s theme).
