The second day of the 13th Star Film Fest brings a diverse programme combining film, photography, education, inclusion and music. On Friday, 21 August, festival audiences will have the opportunity to take part in a cyanotype workshop, attend a masterclass by renowned Croatian cinematographer and director of photography Davor Bjelanović, watch three competition film blocks, and enjoy a special inclusive screening of Svadba.
The second day begins with a cyanotype workshop, a photographic technique also known as the “sun print”. Through hands-on work, participants will have the opportunity to discover one of the oldest photographic techniques and explore how unique photographic prints can be created using light.
For everyone interested in cinematography, the programme continues with a masterclass by Davor Bjelanović, a renowned Croatian cinematographer and director of photography. Through conversation and examples from his professional experience, Bjelanović will introduce audiences to the process of creating cinematic images, the importance of light and photography in visual storytelling, and the challenges cinematographers face when working on a film.
From 5 PM, the programme continues with three new competition film blocks. This year’s selection brings diverse stories by emerging filmmakers from Croatia and around the world, creating space for different cinematic approaches, perspectives and contemporary themes.
A special part of the second day’s programme is the inclusive screening of “Svadba“, taking place at 8:30 PM at Theatre 21. In collaboration with the Film svima project and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the screening has been adapted for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, as well as blind and visually impaired visitors. In this way, Star Film Fest continues to build a festival accessible to all film lovers.
The day will end with music, with DJ Billogorz providing the good vibes and festival atmosphere.
The second day of Star Film Fest brings together everything that makes the festival special – quality short films, encounters with film professionals, creative workshops, inclusion and socialising.
See you on Friday at Theatre 21!
