The competition programme of the 12th Star Film Fest brings a total of 32 short films, including as many as six Croatian premieres! The first competition screening, which will open SFF on Thursday, August 21st at the Vladimir Nazor Promenade, will feature seven films by young authors from the region and one Croatian premiere!

Among them is the animated film “REC” by Fedor Marić, created at the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka, which explores the possibilities of the language of music and its power to bridge the gap in communication; the live-action “Silenzio stampa” from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, directed by Jakov Benčić; the documentary “Žive slike” by Tibor Đurđev, created as part of Restart’s School of Documentary Film, which is also a tribute to a person we will never see; the live-action “Inflation” by Nikola Živković, illustrating the subjective consumer experience of an individual during a time of general price increases; the experimental “Teletext” by Nela Gluhak, also produced at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb; the animated “Chronicity” by Aleta Rajič, portraying an apparently naïve twist of events leading to disaster; and the experimental “Sister” by Zulfikar Filandra, a dreamlike journey of a fresh immigrant — to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its time of COVID-19 — which will also have its Croatian premiere at this year’s Star Film Fest!
