In collaboration with the Film svima project, the 13th Star Film Fest will present two inclusive film screenings accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, as well as blind and visually impaired visitors. Audiences will have the opportunity to watch the Croatian comedy “Svadba” directed by Igor Šeregi and the family film “Glavonja” directed by Marina Andree Škopa and Vanda Raýmanová.
Since 2016, the Film svima has been implemented by the Filmaktiv association with the aim of making audiovisual content accessible to people with hearing and visual impairments while promoting inclusive cultural practices. Through film translation and adaptation, public screenings, and the development of a media library of films adapted into Croatian Sign Language, the project continuously works to ensure that film art is accessible to everyone. To date, 71 films have been translated and adapted, while public screenings have attracted more than 5,000 viewers.
Svadba
On Friday, 21st of August at 8:30 PM at Theatre 21, audiences will have the opportunity to watch the Croatian comedy “Svadba”, directed and written by Igor Šeregi, the creator of the box-office hit “ZG80”. The film features an impressive cast led by Rene Bitorajac, Dragan Bjelogrlić, Anđelka Stević Žugić, Dejan Aćimović, Srđan Žika Todorović, and Linda Begonja.
The story follows a successful Croatian entrepreneur who learns on his birthday that he is on the verge of bankruptcy, while at the very same moment his daughter calls from London to announce that she is pregnant with the son of a Serbian minister. Blending humour, warmth, and tension, Svadba tells the story of two families whose relationship constantly shifts between a touching family drama and a potential international incident.
Glavonja
On the final day of the festival, Saturday, 22nd of August at 10:30 AM at Theatre 21, audiences can enjoy the family film “Glavonja”, accessible to all visitors regardless of sensory impairments.
The film follows Milan, an autistic boy for whom the world is often a confusing and intimidating place, while his younger sister Alisa believes that he is responsible for all of her problems. However, when they unexpectedly find themselves in the middle of an unusual detective adventure, their lives will be changed forever.
The screening will be followed by a special workshop for children and adults.
