We end with the last, but no less important, 7 feature films of this year’s competition program!

The fifth competition block (September 1, 2023 from 8:30 p.m. on the Nazorov Promenade) shows two feature films that penetrate deeper into the essence of the main characters. The Serbian “In my mind” (dir. Teodora Koledin) shows the state of anxiety with which the main character struggles in everyday life, while the French “Fortissimo” (dir. Victor Cesca) portrays a child prodigy, a piano virtuoso who gradually starts to fight with ego.

The last, sixth competition block (September 2, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. in the Sisak City Museum) brings five feature films, two of which tell the story of togetherness. The Mexican “The Witches” (dir. Luis Toriello) tells the story of a clan of witches who, due to a failed initiation ritual, put their differences aside and begin to question their methods and perspectives as well as their purpose in the world. The Hungarian “The Uplands” (dir. Yvonne Kerékgyártó) portrays a group of Roma teenagers as they rehearse a stage performance for a talent show, hoping that it could be an escape from their harsh environment – it might not work, but they will surely learn a lesson about friendship.

From the region, there are the Croatian “Ne pgađa svaka” (dir. Marko Dugonjić), which depicts Gunja during the war and a pregnant woman in labor on the way to Vinkovci, and “A Piece of Freedom” (dir. Sara Ristić) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose main character is Ena on her way to the markets, she is thrown into a magical world as she searches for the origin of a mysterious sound.

And sugar for the end, the Macedonian “I don’t belong here” (dir. Martin Čičovski), whose plot is triggered by a conversation between a teenager and his girlfriend in which he shares his struggles, that unusual conversation that leads them on a long walk through the capital of Macedonia, during which the teenager points his finger at anything that makes him feel worthless.
