Ahead of this year’s Star Film Fest, audiences can look forward to Star Gardens – a traditional open-air film evening that serves as the perfect introduction to the festival. The first edition of this year’s Star Gardens will take place on Friday, August 7, at Jezerce Željezara, starting at 9:00 PM.
In a relaxed open-air setting, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of recent short films by Croatian filmmakers that were screened at last year’s edition of the festival, offering a glimpse into the festival week filled with cinema, creativity, and community.
The programme brings together a diverse range of cinematic styles and genres – from fiction and documentary to animation and experimental film – providing audiences with an insight into the contemporary work of a new generation of filmmakers.
Among the featured films is Greek Apricots, an emotional story about two people who, through their shared roots and one unforgettable summer, discover a sense of belonging.
The audience will also have the chance to watch the animated film Chronicity, which explores humanity’s relationship with time, everyday life, and impermanence through striking visual storytelling.
Also on the programme is the documentary Sea of Silence, an intimate film that uses an observational approach to explore human relationships, space, and silence as a powerful cinematic language.
The selection is rounded off by Memories in Polaroids, a film that explores themes of memory, identity, and transience, offering audiences an emotionally engaging and visually compelling cinematic experience.
The programme also features Reincarnation Hairstyle by Izidor Bistrović, Butine by Lucija Katarina Šešelj, the animated film Cell Buddies by a collective of authors, Inflation by Nikola Živković, and Dragon Hunt by Marko Gutić Mižimakov.
Once again, Star Gardens marks the beginning of Star Film Fest, inviting audiences to enjoy outstanding short films in a unique open-air setting while discovering a selection of works that preview another edition of the festival dedicated to emerging filmmakers and the art of short cinema.
