An official press conference was held on Wednesday, August 18, on the occasion of the eighth edition of the Star Film Fest.
Speakers at the upcoming Star Film Fest were: festival director Matija Holjevac, Mayor of Sisak Kristina Ikić Baniček, representative of INA Damir Butković, Star Film Fest producer Laura Prpić and media sector manager Klara Berdais.
Star Film Fest, this year is held under the slogan “Made of Stardust” and after last year’s online edition, this year it returns in its full glory.
The organizers especially pointed out the specific way of holding this year’s edition, live but also online via live stream on the official Fest website.
The screenings of the films themselves will be possible to watch live at the locations of the festival, and all those who will not be able to attend, will be able to watch them online on the official website of Star Film Fest.
Matija Holjevac, director of Star Film Fest, expressed satisfaction with the enviable number of applications this year, despite the continued presence of coronavirus. This year, 526 films from 50 different countries arrived, and professional selectors Anja Kavić and Martina Mladenović selected 39 films that will shine on this year’s Star Film Fest screen. The director of the festival also presented this year’s jury consisting of Iva Rosandić, Karlo Maloča, Ena Mitrovski, Lucia Stefania Glavic Mandarić and Tena Pataky.
He also pointed out that all segments of the program will be implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the National Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia at the locations of the outdoor space of Theater 21 and the newly renovated space of the Centar Kreativne Industrije Sisak.
The Mayor of Sisak, Kristina Ikić Baniček, emphasized that she was extremely glad that the space of the Sisak Creative Industry Center also fit into the Star Film Fest program. She also emphasized that over the last eight years Star Film Fest has grown into a recognizable and high-quality Sisak festival – “I think that when everyone hears the name Star Film Fest, they identify it with a good young, energetic team that offers us something new every year.”
The representative of INA, Damir Butković, then addressed the media, emphasizing the already traditional cooperation of INA with the star festival in Sisak. On behalf of INA, he expressed satisfaction with the cooperation and congratulated the organizers of the Star Film Fest on embarking on the challenging realization of the 8th edition of the festival.
The last words of the conference were taken over by the producer of Star Film Fest Laura Prpić, who introduced the media to the festival program with an emphasis on rich and extensive accompanying content. Thus, the 8th Star Film Fest, in addition to competitive screenings in live and online editions, also offers the audience exhibitions realized in cooperation with the Sisak City Museum and the Karlovac F12 platform, as well as numerous workshops and a music program.
Finally, the producer emphasized the cooperation between Star Film Fest and Hrvatske željeznice – for all visitors to Star Film Fest who will come by train, a 40% discount on the return ticket of travel to Hrvatske željeznice will be provided.
After thanking the media for coming and following the official press conference, the organizers thanked the sponsors and other media for their support and invited everyone interested to the 8th Star Film Fest which will be held from August 26 to August 28 in Sisak and online.
