We are approaching the end of the presentation of the competition program, which consists of a total of 14 short feature films!

From the region, in the first block of competitive screenings (August 31, 2023, from 8:30 p.m.) on Vladimir Nazor’s Promenade, we are watching the Serbian “Overthinker” (dir. Nemanja Mladenović) and “Kad zaboraviš juli” directed by Sara Radusinović from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through the character of Alexandra, “Overthinker” illustrates internal conflicts, self-doubt and fear of failure, while “Kad zaboraviš juli” tells the story of a young former love of completely different people today and the possibilities for her return.

Belgium’s “Jeanne’s Audition” (dir. Maarten de Bruijne) also brings a personalized story about Jeanne who dreams of leaving her life as a farmer and becoming an actress, but that dream is not so easy to come true. The Portuguese “Raticide” (dir. João Niza), on the other hand, shows Carlos, the main character, who is forced to deal with a progressively eroded reality in a darker tone. You will have a chance to watch both films in the second competition block (September 1, 2023) from 15:00 at the Sisak City Museum.

The third competition block (September 1, 2023 from 4:15 p.m. in the Sisak City Museum) features the domestic film “My Nikola” directed by Martina Marasović. “My Nikola” begins with the happiest day in Karla’s life, she marries the love of her life – Nikola. However, as the celebration progresses and the first wedding night approaches, Karla becomes more and more worried.

Finally, in the fourth competition block (September 1, 2023) from 5:30 p.m. in the Sisak City Museum, two feature films will be shown – the Slovenian “Daljnje njive” (dir. Filip Jembrih) and the Montenegrin “Dora” (dir. Ana Ćulum) . “Daljnje njive” tells the story of Jean, a young French hooligan, sent on a forced vacation to his grandfather Evald, who lives in the Slovenian countryside. “Dora” thematizes the love and strength between humans and pets – after losing her husband, the widow feels lost and insecure about her life. However, when she is visited by a lost dog of the same breed as her deceased pet, she is inspired to start a new business venture and rediscovers a forgotten passion that gives her a renewed sense of purpose.
