Finally, the time has come to present this year’s films in the competition program in detail!
We start with a block of documentaries that bring us fascinating local and foreign stories! Lithuanian “Before Pandemic and War, There Were Bed Bugs and Love!” (dir. Nuruzzaman Khan) faces a nostalgic past and wistfully recalls the director’s private life, dreams and relationships before and after the pandemic and the war. The film is scheduled for the second block of competitive screenings (September 1st, 2023 at 3 p.m.) at the Sisak City Museum.
“Dear Filip” by director Filip Zadro brings a “letter from home” to the big screen through the narration and soothing shots of home, while the Spanish “Santorini, the paradise of parkour” (dir. Biel Macià) shows two parkour athletes on an adventure in Santorini – the paradise of the white and blue roofs, thus showing the core of this risky sport and exciting lifestyle. You will be able to watch the films in the third block of competitive screenings (September 1st, 2023 at 4:15 p.m.) in the Sisak City Museum.
“Punim plućima” (dir. Leila Elhoveris), also in an adventurous spirit, as part of the fifth competitive screening (September 1st, 2023 at 8:30 p.m.) on Nazor’s promenade, presents a biographical story about a travel writer who traveled the world without taking a single step. Also as a part of the fifth competitive screening, the Dutch debut film “The Golden Generation” (dir. Kieran Kenlock, Kwame Wilson, Steven Apampa, Yaf Downes) will be shown, the film about the inspiration of the next “golden” generation – the community of creatives who make Amsterdam a special city!
