Star Gardens is already a long tradition and an ideal prelude to the Star Film Fest that awaits us at the end of the summer! The tradition of enjoying film art in the hidden gardens of Sisak under the starry sky takes place every year during the month of August.

This year’s first edition of Star Gardens will be held on Friday, August 19 at 9 p.m. in the courtyard of the Sisak City Museum at Ulica kralja Tomislava 10, and several films from the competition program of last year’s edition of Star Film Fest will be shown. Therefore, if you didn’t visit last year’s edition, this is your chance to make up for what you missed and get ready for the next one!

From last year’s films, this edition of Star Gardens will feature the films Everything in its right place, (Un)known Neighbors, Blue Frontier, The Legend of the Sun and the Storm and Nisam ovdje Everything as it should be by the author Nikola Stojanović won the Stardust Award at the eighth SFF. The film follows a single mother who wants to spend her birthday with her daughter Sara, but her plans are ruined when Sara invites her father to her birthday party.

The Spanish film (Un)known neighbors directed by Isaac Rodriguez brings the author’s experience of moving to Barcelona. Over time, he got to know his new neighbors and calculated that hundreds of people could live in his neighborhood. The film shows different lives of different ideals, routines and ways of behaving that coexist wall to wall and meet day by day, and at the same time won the Audience Award at the eighth Star Film Fest.

The awards for the best documentary film, the best regional film and the best photography were won last year by Ivan Milosavljević‘s film The Blue Frontier, which depicts a man from the border who spent his whole life looking for the biggest fish hidden by the blue Danube. Years ago, every day, at the crack of dawn, an old fisherman tries to lure fish. This is the story of two peers – one on the surface of the water, the other hidden in the depths of the mighty river, waiting to finally meet.

From last year’s competition program, at this edition of Star Gardens there will also be a screening of the animated film The Legend of the Sun and the Storm directed by Hugo Tortul Ferriolli and Victor Laildhear do Amaral shows the arrival of Susanoo, the storm god whose destructive behavior brings chaos and unrest to his sister Amaterasa , the sun goddess and her subjects, and Sara Radusinović‘s film Nisam ovdje, which portrays young Selena, whose transition from adolescence to adulthood is not at all easy. With no money and no job, she still lives with her mother in her hometown, and deals with her worries in her typical, chaotic way.
