The first day of the Star Film Festival we will open the exhibition Dora Hanžek ”
transmediality of the shot- selection from film cycles”. The opening of the exhibition will be held on August 30, 2018 at 19:30 in the beautiful ambience of the Old Town of Sisak.
Dore Hanžek’s painting cycles include film scenes from film classics and video works that have had a complex impact on a large number of generations: “Tko pjeva, zlo ne misli “; “Amarcord”, video spot of Pink Floyd “The Wall”; Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”. Moved to painting canvas, these scenes reveal the nostalgic return, remembrance and the need for an artist to update these specific film scenes. Looking at the painting language, with a specific selection of picture frames, these works point to the dynamic tension between transcendence between the existing picture in the film and the same portrait on the painting canvas, while the observers cause the feeling of subjective attachment to the individual film.
The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the City Gallery Striegl, which gave us generously the works of the young artist to the satisfaction of the festival’s visitors. Entrance to the exhibition is not charged, so we encourage everyone interested to join us at the opening.
