On the first day of the Star Film Fest we’ll start it off with Dora Hanžek’s exhibition “Transmediality of the frame – selection of films”, The opening will be held on the 30. of August at 19:30h in the beautiful ambiance of Old Town Sisak’s fortress.
Dora Hanžek’s selection consists of film scenes from classic movies and video clips that have had a profound and complex influence over multiple generations, such as: “Tko pjeva, zlo ne misli” (He who sings means no harm), “Amarcord”, scenes from Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” music video; Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”. Transferred to a painter’s canvas, these scenes reveal a nostalgic rememberance and the artist’s need for an actualization of those selected movie scenes. Through the eyes of a painter, through the selection of specific movie scenes, these works point out the dynamic tension in transmediality between a frame in a movie and that same frame on a canvas, while provoking specific subjective feelings in the observer tied to each film.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the city art gallery Striegl which very generously allowed us to display the works of this young artist for the viewing pleasure of the festival’s visitors. Entrance is free for anyone interested so we encourage anyone interested to join us at the opening ceremony.
